A self managed website (also known as a content management system) is a way of describing a website that can have its content updated easily and quickly. Anyone with a small amount of technical skills can update their website from any computer with an internet connection.

The self management system we use is the open source Joomla project, which is extremely easy to use and very powerful. To update the content on a Joomla content management system is very similar to a Microsoft Word document as the icon buttons are quite similar and very easy to use.

Most people choose to use a self managed website to make life easier when making small changes as more often than not it costs a fair amount of money to get the web designer to make the smallest change.

Self management is the best way to go, especially if you have plans to add new content daily or are planning to add in a shopping cart in the near future. Any website that requires daily or frequent attention needs to have a self management system to be able to keep up with changes without fuss.
